There was a time not too long ago when I believed that much of the anti-Mexican sentiment that had fueled Donal Trump’s path to the American presidency was being mistakenly directed at Mexican Americans.

Contrary to the orthodox position on this issue, there is no inherent contradiction between being loyal to the United States and simultaneously supporting the people of Mexico in their struggle for political and social justice.
